Summer Skirt: Two Ways

Well hello there! I've been a little absent from this blog lately and I'm sorry about that. Sometime life just takes over and you have to prioritize. That's kind of what I have been doing lately- but I would like to get back into blogging soon if I can! 

MikaRose recently sent me this gorgeous pleated, flowy skirt and it's currently one of my favorite things in my closet. It's the perfect piece for summer. It's really a versatile item and can be worn in a variety of ways, so today I'm showing how I wore it both dressed up and dressed down! 

For a dressed-down look, I paired this skirt with a chambray shirt (tied at the bottom), strappy leather sandals, and a statement necklace. I absolutely love this look- it's perfect for an easy going Saturday afternoon. Also, how gorgeous is this sunflower field? This is probably my favorite place I've ever done a shoot!

For a more dressed-up look, I wore this skirt with this dressy top from MikaRose. I absolutely love the bow detail and how it completely transforms this outfit!

Office Style

I recently started a new job/internship in a professional office environment. I love dressing up, especially in pencil skirts and nice blouses like this Loft pencil skirt and this blouse with side stripes from J.Crew factory. I also love any excuse to wear heels. The only challenge is when I have class before work (which is every day I work) and deciding if I will walk around campus in heels (and look somewhat ridiculous) or pack a pair of flats!

Styling a Shift Dress: Day to Night Series Part 2

Happy Thursday! This week totally flew by, but I'm certainly not complaining about it!

Earlier this week, I shared the first part of this series and I showed you how to wear a shift dress for the day time. If you missed it, you can see that post here.

For this night look, I wanted to dress up this simple dress. (I also wore this church on Sunday and it was a perfect church outfit!)

I added a printed leopard scarf because I love contrasting patterns and textures. I think the ankle strap heels and a black clutch were the perfect things to 'top off' the outfit!

Coral Monochrome

I love the monochrome look. There are so many ways to wear it and it make it look different, depending on what color you choose to incorporate.
Okay, so this outfit isn't completely monochrome, but close enough, right?

On another note, I have been on a coral craze lately. This striped shirt is actually a dress that I found at Old Navy for only $4. It works great as a shirt too though!

This is an old skirt, but I've linked up some similar options below. I love mixing bold stripes with soft floral patterns- it creates such a fun and feminine look. 

The shoes I'm wearing are actually my wedding shoes. I've only worn them a few times. After wearing them once more, I was reminded of why I went barefoot my entire reception. They will probably just look pretty in my closet for now on!

Wedding Style: Red, White, and Tulle

Do you sense the double-theme that is indicated in the title? 

You'll see what I mean. 

When The Girl That Loves sent me this Lace Tulle Skirt, I had the perfect outfit idea in mind for it- a wedding style outfit. I mean what screams wedding more than lace and tulle!? 

Then, when I was styling this outfit, I paired it with a chambray top and I was thinking about how cute a white tulle skirt would be when paired with  patriotic, fourth of July colors. 

That's when the two ideas came together. Rather than decking myself out in our nation's lovely colors, I decided to keep it more subtle, with hints of red and blue. 

The tulle skirt is still the focal point of the outfit, but there are pops of blue and red too. This makes the outfit appropriate for a wedding, without losing the patriotic feel I wanted to establish for the 4th of July.

Those are perfect for summer weddings.

Floral Blues

I have a confession... I have the floral blues. This is no secret. 

Floral pants, skirts, dresses, shirts, nails, everything. 

I'll have it all.

Melon & Lemon

Happy Friday! 

You may have noticed, that I took a little 'blog break' this week. Sometimes that is very much needed and it's good to have a little down time. But, I am back with an outfit post!

Onto my outfit; when I put this outfit together all I could think of was... fruit. This t-shirt is a melon color and this blazer is as bright as a lemon. Summertime certainly is the time to wear bright colors, right? 

Sidenote: this t-shirt is from JC Penney's and it is the most comfy thing ever. I'm in love with it and I want it in every color. It was on sale for $7 too!

Product Review 

When I first received this blazer, I noticed how the material was not like a normal blazer. It wasn't a thick, stiff fabric, but it was thinner and more flexible. It actually reminds me of a raincoat but it isn't too thin! Since it is summer and the temperatures are now in the 80s and 90s I really liked this aspect of the blazer! This is actually a great blazer to wear during the summer because of the material. 

One thing to be aware of when ordering from DressLily is they are located in China, so their shipping takes a little longer than most companies. My package took about 5 weeks to arrive. I am not sure if this normal or if this was just an unfortunate situation.
