How to Put Together a Last-Minute Valentine's Day Outfit

With Valentine's Day being tomorrow, you've probably thought about what you might wear for this special occasion. Whether you have a fancy night out planned with your significant other, a fun day date planned, or you plan on spending the evening with your girlfriends, you want to look your best and love what you're wearing.
I've seen lots of gorgeous outfits all over Pinterest and other blogs that I would love to purchase but let's face it- we can't always afford a brand new outfit for every holiday and occasion! Or maybe you can afford it, but Valentine's Day came out of nowehre and you don't have time to buy one. #weveallbeenthere

Whatever your situation, you're in luck because you don't necessarily need to buy a brand new outfit  to look and feel great tomorrow! Below I've rounded up eight outfits that I've worn in the past two years that are great options for Valentine's Day. The fact is, you don't have to be dressed in all red to have a great outfit for tomorrow! I'm willing to bet that you have some pieces in your closet that will help you create a great outfit without spending a penny.

I have lots of burgundy items left over from the holidays, but these work great for Valentine's Day too! Especially if your part of the country is still experiencing winter weather. Something as simple as a colorful dress, tights, and heels will give you a chic and fun look for tomorrow!

Do you have a lot of black and white items in your closet? Because I do! I wore this outfit for a night out with friends in San Francisco last year, but it would also work great for Valentine's Day. Just pair your favorite little black dress with a blush, pink, or even purple blazer or coat, add some heels, and you're good to go!

We've been experiencing warm weather here in Colorado the last week and it has been lovely. If you're in a warmer part of the country, you can totally pull off a Valentine's look that is more spring-friendly. An easy way to do this is with a colorful pencil skirt. I wore this magenta polka-dot pencil skirt with a tied chambray during a sunny day in April last year, but it would work just as well for a Valentine's day date in warm weather!

One word: lace. Seriously, when in doubt- just wear lace for the big V-day. It's feminine and romantic- you just can't go wrong. Weather it's white, cream, pink, etc. it will give you the perfect look for the occasion.

This is obviously a no-brainer, but if you have anything in your closet with hearts on it, then you've found your outfit. Heart prints are the perfect thing to wear on Valentine's Day, whether you wear them dressed up for dinner or casually for the day!

This is probably the most Valentines-ey of these looks, but it's super easy to recreate. Just pair a red or burgundy skirt with a pink blouse and add some pretty jewelry. This could even be done with a top and colored jeans. These two colors naturally compliment one another  and are the perfect color palette to wear on the day of love.

Okay if all else fails, wear floral! I mean half of Valentine's Day is about flowers, so why not incorporate that into your outfit? You just can't go wrong with floral prints . Whether it's a blazer, a blouse, a dress, skirt, or anything else- anything floral will bring your Valentine's Day outfit to life. And if you're anything like me, you have plenty of floral items in your closet to choose from.

Finally, you can make almost any outfit fit any occasion with a colored cardigan. This is my rule of thumb for when I don't know what to wear. Whether you're wearing a t-shirt, a blouse, a patterned shirt, a dress etc. throwing on a colorful cardigan can really pull your look together. If you already have a red, pink, or purple cardigan, you'll be good to go for tomorrow!

I hope these looks inspire you to find an outfit that works for you tomorrow if you haven't already put one together on your own!

What are your plans for Valentine's Day? We are doing things differently this year with a fun day date and I'm exciting to wear a more casual look for the occasion.
