Long Time, No Blog!

Well, hello there!

It's has been a long time since I have blogged on here and for a while there my website was actually down. It made me sad that I had to take a blogging hiatus but it was extremely necessary. I put so much work into this blog over the last 3 years and I grew a large following, so I feel like I owe you all an explanation.

If you follow me on instagram (@jessicajeanwalters), then you probably know that I had my baby in early May. He is now 8 months actually, what!? Time flies. After I had him, some terrible and unexpected things happened in my life and I just could not blog. I'm not going to get into the details, but all I could really do for several months was be a mom and take care of myself and my baby. Here I am several months later and I miss blogging so much and I really want to get back into it.

I miss doing fashion posts and connecting with all my followers. But right now fashion posts are something I just cannot commit too. Being a mom is such a big responsibility and I really admire moms who can juggle home responsibilities and a blog. If I had a photographer to take my photos, it might be feasible, but right now it just isn't.

I decided that since I'm not doing fashion focused posts anymore, that I should create a new blog and leave this as is. This blog will never be deleted and will remain published at www.afternoonstyle.blogspot.com I couldn't imagine deleting it after everything I put into it over the last few years.

I'm blogging about a lot of different things now... motherhood, the struggles of life, the joys of life, natural/holistic living, my favorite baby products. I know this isn't everyone's jam but if it is, I would love for you to follow me over on my new blog, Mama Essentials!

Thank you all for following me over the last few years, I truly appreciate it. Even though my momiform is mainly leggings, v-necks, and messy buns these days- I do post #ootds on instagram occasionally so follow along with me there if you'd like.

XOXO Jessica

Before & After Pregnancy: Isabella Oliver

I have been wanting to share this post with you all for what seems forever, but life kind of got in the way!

So before I had my baby, Isabella Oliver sent me an amazing maternity dress and I absolutely fell in love with it! I had planned to take blog photos with it but my baby came literally the day before my planned photo session! (He came three weeks early). I wore it to church that day and I ended up going into labor that night. (Excuse the blurry phone photo)

While I was pregnant, this was my favorite maternity dress to wear because:

-it was so incredibly comfortable
-you can wear it throughout an entire pregnancy
-it was the perfect length
-and it could be worn mixed and matched with so many things

And my other favorite part about this dress? You can wear it post-pregnancy too!

Things I love about this dress post-pregnancy:

-It's still the perfect length
-It's perfect for that post-pregnant belly :)
-it's still just as comfy
-it's the perfect summer dress
-it can be dressed up or down!

If you're expecting, whether you have a bump yet or not, I highly recommend checking out Isabella Oliver! See all their dresses here

Summer Skirt: Two Ways

Well hello there! I've been a little absent from this blog lately and I'm sorry about that. Sometime life just takes over and you have to prioritize. That's kind of what I have been doing lately- but I would like to get back into blogging soon if I can!

MikaRose recently sent me this gorgeous pleated, flowy skirt and it's currently one of my favorite things in my closet. It's the perfect piece for summer. It's really a versatile item and can be worn in a variety of ways, so today I'm showing how I wore it both dressed up and dressed down!

For a dressed-down look, I paired this skirt with a chambray shirt (tied at the bottom), strappy leather sandals, and a statement necklace. I absolutely love this look- it's perfect for an easy going Saturday afternoon. Also, how gorgeous is this sunflower field? This is probably my favorite place I've ever done a shoot!

For a more dressed-up look, I wore this skirt with this dressy top from MikaRose. I absolutely love the bow detail and how it completely transforms this outfit!

Be sure to check out MikaRose's site. They have some really gorgeous dresses, skirts, and tops that are perfect for a variety of occasions!

Floral Popover

Long time, no blog. But for real, it's been exactly a month since my last post!

If you follow me on instagram, you probably saw that my baby boy was born 3 weeks ago! We are both doing great, just recovering and enjoying every moment. Hence, the necessary blog break.

This is the very last maternity outfit that I have for the blog. My little guy came 3 weeks early, so I didn't anticipating this being the case.

This floral number from Old Navy has been my favorite thing for Spring. It's a loose popover top so it was great for pregnancy and my big belly! Now that I am no longer pregnant, it is also a great loose top to hide the baby fat I need to lose ;) This is sold out online, but similar items can be found here and here
